Summer is coming, as are the suitcases… What if you only travelled with 3 tops, 3 trousers, and 3 pairs of shoes? The '333' challenge is the minimalist (and stylish) method that will help you.

Spring cleaning and wardrobe changes go hand in hand. It's the perfect time to try the '333'. A mysterious code name for an incredibly easy trend to apply: three tops, three trousers, and three pairs of shoes for three months, the length of a season. This challenge was started by Rachel Spencer, a popular content creator on social media, who is riding an already longstanding trend: the minimalist wardrobe or 'capsule wardrobe'.

The idea is, if possible, to work with pieces you already own. We see where you're going, with your desires for new purchases! First step: the great sort. Keep clothes you adore and enjoy wearing. In the pile to donate go all those you haven’t worn in a long time or don’t feel comfortable in. Start with neutral pieces, easy to mix and match, then add a few more colourful touches to spice things up. Don't neglect accessories like scarves and belts, which can jazz up a basic outfit (they aren’t included in the famous 3!).

By doing this, you should end up with a reduced number of clothes, and it's from these that you need to choose the famous 3x3. The aim? To avoid those sad mornings staring at your wardrobe with that infamous and anxious question: "What on earth am I going to wear today?" Another advantage: gradually, season after season, you'll only keep high-quality clothing and get much better at identifying outfits that suit you. And finally, you might dare to try unexpected combinations. How about wearing that cardigan buttoned up back to front? And that grey skirt, you probably never thought of pairing it with that boat neck top... We generally wear only between 30 and 40% of our clothes, so this sort shouldn’t be too big a challenge.

Ready to give it a try? Let's count to three!
