The return of a controversial site alerts French authorities

The Coco website, known for its numerous controversies and closed by the French authorities in 2024 following multiple criminal cases, has recently resurfaced under the new name of Bounty.

More than 23,000 lawsuits were filed against Coco before its closure. The Coco website was shut down in June 2024 for hosting child sex abuse, homophobic ambushes, and other illegal activities.

Since the summer of 2025, a new platform called Bounty has had an interface and features extremely similar to Coco's.

As with Coco, registration requires only a username, age, gender, and postal code, but no formal verification is required, despite the "adults only" notice.

This reappearance led the French High Commissioner for Children, Sarah El Haïry, to refer the matter to Arcom (the regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communications) and alert the Ministry of Justice.

The return of the Coco website under the name Bounty has reignited the controversy and demonstrated the difficulties authorities face in permanently preventing the resurgence of this type of platform.
