Italian Sanremo festival winner refuses to go to Eurovision Song Contest
Sanremo winner Olly will not perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, Italy will therefore be represented in the final by Lucio Corsi.
Although he ‘only’ came second at Italy's renowned Sanremo song contest, Lucio Corsi will go on to defend Italy's honour at the Eurovision final in May. The 31-year-old Italian will do so with his song ‘Volevo Essere Un Duro’.
According to official Eurovision website Eurovision.tv, Olly has thus turned down the chance to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, explaining that he has a busy schedule and needs to concentrate on his planned concert tour. RAI then sent an invitation to Sanremo runner-up Corsi, who accepted the challenge with gratitude.
